Time Is Running OUT! Submit your proposals today.

The Ohio TESOL Conference is back in person!  We’ll meet on November 11th & 12th, 2022 at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Columbus.

We are very excited to be back in person. Ohio TESOL appreciates your time and expertise.  High-quality sessions make the conference a success. The proposal deadline is June 10th, 2022. The Proposal Deadline has been extended to June 17th.

To thank presenters for their efforts in providing quality sessions, ONE presenter per accepted session will receive a discounted conference registration for the cost of $150. This person will also receive free membership for the 2022-23 membership year.

Types of presentations include:

Demonstrations / Workshops (Practice-Oriented Presentation): These 50-minute sessions provide participants with practical information. Demonstrations might give “hands-on” experience in developing methods and materials, analyzing research data, or solving a specific research/teaching problem.  The demonstration and workshop sessions are frequently interactive. For example, you might present ideas on how to help students prepare for the AIR state assessments or instructional activities that promote authentic, meaningful language use.

Papers (Research-Oriented Presentation): Paper sessions present original research or pedagogical practices related to TESOL.  These 50-minute sessions usually consist of a 40-minute presentation and 10 minutes for discussion and questions.

Panel Discussion:  These 50-minute sessions typically consist of 3-4 panelists and feature substantive discussion with the audience. The panel should pursue one topic with a facilitator to introduce speakers, summarize panelist statements, and facilitate discussion with the audience. Submissions should include a clear description of the discussion topic, the contents of the discussion, and a list of the panelists. Topics can include research or practice. For example, with respect to research, a panel could offer several points of view on a controversial subject such as the pedagogical value of explicit grammar instruction.

Graduate Research / Panel: Graduate students are invited to discuss their research projects with conference attendees. Up to three students with similar topics may be scheduled for one concurrent session. The 50-minute session is usually divided equally among the presenters. Proposals may be from individual students or a group.
